When the AMP error first appeared, I didn’t know what it referred to. Amplifier
was the first thought but then I thought it could also be AMPs on the power line.
I finally asked [...]. They immediately contacted their local agent, Geo Meyers,
and the service was immediate. They brought two replacement boards with
them but neither worked. They arranged for another appointment. The next time
they brought another board. No luck. They suggested and I agreed that it would
make more sense for them to take it into the shop. They brought it back within
two working days. This was all done under the 90-day warranty. They made three
trips(not short)but they did it willingly and were always in touch with me by
phone for any news.
I must first compliment Sharp for providing such prompt service. The TV seems to be
working well but I’ve not used it for a full week yet. From time of purchase to
actual delivery was longer than expected, almost two weeks(but it was free!)
It’s taken almost another two weeks for the TV to actually be enjoyed.
If I encounter no more problems, it was a great bargain. I could write a better

Overall, a great value; top notch image quality at a very reasonable price.

Pros:

Stunning image quality. Fantastically bright (and perfectly even brightness, no bright/dark areas like most LCD TVs have), very high contrast, with excellent color depth/richness. The viewing angle is magnificent; there’s virtually no color or brightness shift until you’re looking at the screen close to edge on. It looks a lot like the IPS type panels found in high end computer monitors.

The 120 Hz motion enhancement technology does make a noticeable improvement when viewing some moving objects, particularly scrolling text.

Cons:

It’s not very well suited to be used as the display of a media PC. The PC video connection (VGA) for some astonishing reason doesn’t support full 1080p input, so you’ll need to get an adapter/cable to plug your computer into one of the HDMI ports. Equally mysteriously, it doesn’t have a ‘sleep’ function; the screen will stay on even when the computer has gone to sleep. You can set the TV to turn itself off after five minutes without a signal, but then you need to press the power button to turn it back on (it won’t re-activate when the PC wakes up and starts sending a signal to it.)

Misc.:

The built-in speakers are (as usual for flat panels) unremarkable; not much bass, although they do avoid the ‘buzzing’ at higher volumes that plagues many TV speakers. They’re fine for general TV watching, and any serious movie fan will want to hook up a surround sound system anyway.
