Stunning!

Review Date: June 20, 2009
Reviewer: BTinHouston, Houston, TX, USA
I have owned the Mitsubishi LaserVue since May 24, 2009. I could not be more satisfied with this TV. Blu-Rays look flawless with natural fluid motion, even with fast paced action scenes. The brightness of the image far surpasses the LCD and LED-LCD competition. Dark scene detail is the best that I have seen. My previous set was an early Samsung DLP. Reviewers have commented on the narrow viewing angle of DLP-type televisions. The viewing angle on the LaserVue is far broader than any DLP television, especially laterally. Even vertically, the viewing angle is better than my old Samsung DLP. My LaserVue sits on a BDI Deploy Max 9640-1, Extra wide Open TV Stand - Gloss Black stand, about 19 inches high. Wii games are playable twelve feet away without problems in viewing. The placement in my family room is on the long wall ( 24 feet ) and an excellent image is viewable from all seating positions. What really separates this TV from the competition, however, is the color rendition. Of the three color settings, "Natural", "Bright", and "Brilliant", I keep the TV mostly on "Natural", and even at this setting, the color is astounding. The "Bright" setting is used only when there is extreme ambient light, such as when there is direct sunlight streaming through the blinds behind the TV. The "Brilliant" setting seems to extrapolate the color into a range broader than originally intended or recorded. The Blu-Ray of the movie WALL-E looks incredible on this setting.

I must make some comments about a very positive experience with Mitsubishi as a company and the customer service that I have received. My first LaserVue did have a defect. The picture would occasionally shift in tone, as if the color temperature had been changed from cool to warm. I contacted my dealer, who in turn contacted Mitsubishi. I received telephone call from both a Mitsubishi customer service representative as well as an engineer from company headquarters in California. My set was replaced within a week and I received follow-up calls ensure that all was ok.

Many people are put off by the price of this television. I purchased the LaserVue and the stand at a very high-end Home theater store in Houston, where far costlier televisions were on display. One evening, near closing time, I was the only customer in the store. Most of the high-end televisions have promotional Blu-Ray DVDs playing to demonstrate the strengths of their products. My salesman allowed me to play these DVDs on the Laservue. It was really no contest. After this exercise, the LaserVue really seemed like a bargain, especially when considering that there should be no degradation of the image in the life of this television.
Blown away by this picture!

My brother just bought this and I'm very impressed with the pic quality. I want to start by saying I own a Sony XBR4 and an XBR6, and I have the baseline settings for XBR4 at AVS, so I know pic quality.

This is an amazing TV, super vivid colors, deep blacks and smooth motion. The only con is that is not a flat panel and cannot be wall mounted. If wall mounting is not a big deal, and you can afford the high price, then this is by far the best big-screen out there(over 55"), beating the Pio Elite Pro 111FD 60" model for color accuracy.

If size is not a big deal, the Pio Elite 50" pro111FD is probably better because its gettable for under 2k. The Sony XBR4,6 are the best LCD's at any size.

Mitsubishi hits a home run.....now please lower the price, so most can afford.
Goosebump-Inducingly AWESOME

Ignore the "haters" reviews if you want the true skinny on this incredible, must-see-it-to-believe-it television. After copious research, my husband and I were 99% sure this was the TV we wanted...but there was one problem. There wasn't a store in our entire state that had one on the floor for us to see in person. With a purchase this expensive, that poses a giant obstacle. Do we buy it sight-unseen? Yikes! (We live in Michigan, and when I called Mitsubishi's general service line, I was told there was a store that had one on the floor...in Tennessee.)

Ultimately, we did buy it sight-unseen...directly from Amazon. (I would be cautious about buying it from any of the shadier internet appliance dealers, though - even among Amazon's own 'marketplace' sellers.) The set arrived very quickly, but we did have a problem: thin vertical lines running across 90% of the screen. I called the special number for Laservue owners and spoke directly with a real, live human being in California right away. They immediately arranged to have my set replaced with a brand-new set and have the faulty set shipped back to CA so they could examine it in person. For the incredibly low price for which we purchased this TV from Amazon (under $4K), I didn't mind a bit. Even in the few days it took for the new set to arrive, my husband and I watched the defective set with something approaching awe. The sharpness, the black levels, the otherworldly quality of the color when set on 'Brilliant' mode...it's indescribable. I'm so incredibly glad we didn't settle for a plasma with their distractingly reflective screens or an LED-LCD. The Mitsubishi Laservue leaves them all in the dust.

The new set arrived and "glorious" is a decent word to describe the picture quality. And if you're watching something in HD? It's like you can reach right through the screen and touch what you're seeing. I had to laugh when I found my husband utterly absorbed in a cooking show (something he NEVER watches), and when I called his name, all he could manage was to whisper "It all looks so delicious!", never once taking his eyes off the screen. I know what he means, though - you feel like you can actually smell and taste the food that is seen on this set.

The set itself is really slim and the case is beautifully sleek. I understand you can hang the Laservue on the wall, but since I've never been one to want to hang my TV on the wall itself, that didn't matter one way or another.

I can understand how some people are frustrated, having thought that this technology would be more widely available from other manufacturers by now and therefore more cost-competitive. I can even understand how some people hear the words "rear projection" and scoff at the notion of a television that is a rear projection selling for over $5,000.00. But I can tell you from firsthand experience that this television is worth every dime of its current price, and the angry reviews are written by people who don't own one and probably have never even seen one. Take them with more than a grain of salt.

Could we have afforded this television at its current market price? Sadly, no. I do hope that Mitsubishi will expand production so that brick-and-mortar stores that want to sell them can have them on hand, and that they consider expanding the Laservue line to screen sizes both larger and smaller. If they did so, I can't help but think they would have a runaway success on their hands, especially if they could come down in price even a bit. I also hope that other maufacturers jump into this technology with both feet and give Mitsubishi a run for their money.

But make no mistake - this television is so good, it makes every known superlative adjective seem banal. Mitsubishi rightly provides a level of customer service for this incredibly expensive TV that one would expect, and after having dealt with them, I can vouch for their commitment to complete satisfaction for the customers who are willing to take the plunge and buy a Laservue. But at that price, they'd darn well BETTER, right?

Still, if you want the kind of television that makes people's jaws drop open when they come over and makes everyone in your family grin like a mindless fool every time they watch it, consider the Mitsubishi Laservue. You *won't* regret it.
laservue is the best TV in the world!!!

Review Date: August 27, 2009
Reviewer: cliffhanger, new hampshire
I find it kind of funny that anyone who owns the laservue is very quick to rate it with 5 solid stars, yet people who don't own one can't afford it, or simply think it is overpriced, are really quick to give it 1 star. These are the people who really wish they could have one.
If you want the best 65" television in the world, by all means get a laservue. The colors, black levels, picture quality, and efficiency are just amazing, which is what you really want in a TV at the end of the day.
Laservue awesome service benefits

Reviewer: Daniel Phillips, st louis
If within that first year your LaserVue unit requires servicing longer than 2 weeks from the first service visit then you may request that a new LaserVue HDTV be sent to you free of charge.

And that's just some of the benefits beside the awesome picture.

Sleeper Offering Relative to Most Popular LCDS

Review Date: July 29, 2007
Reviewer: J. DeStefano,
I was tending towards getting a smaller Samsung LCD to complement the 46" model I now have when I came across this Panasonic unit. What a surprise to find not only did it have an even brighter, crisper picture, but it also had a decent set of speakers and some unique features lacking in the Samsung and Sony models. These features include an automatic shutoff option if the remote hasn't been used for 90 minutes - a handy feature if you fall asleep while watching or have kids who leave the tv on. In addition, if signal is lost or a component feeding the unit is shut off, this tv automatically turns itself off after a period of time. Also it has a black adjustment setting which provides the pitch black typical of Sharp models, or optionally a lighter black which better shows detail in darker areas like Sony and Samsung offer, if that is what you prefer. The unique lighting source gets rid of the buzz other reviewers have complained about in some smaller Samsung sets. Getting back to the speakers - having a decent pair is critical for smaller sets where you likely wont be using a stand alone set of speakers. The Samsung speakers tend to be marginal in their smaller sets. Perhaps the only drawback I saw to this unit was the design. Clearly not as striking as the Samsung or even Sony. However, the construction is solid and it has a decent traditional look. And for a price lower than Samsung or Sony, it is a steal. Seems as though Panasonic - well know for its quality plasma sets - is finally getting serious about becoming a major player in the LCD arena. I love my 46" LCD Samsung, but this is clearly the best choice and value for a smaller LCD.
Panasonic 32" LX70

I love this TV! I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and I'm so happy I went with this model and brand. First of all, I really like the Panasonic company. They actually have a customer service department! (With real people! In this country!) Other than that, the picture is great. It's really just as good as, or almost as good as, a Sony or Samsung, and certainly better than any other brand. And the price is significantly less than other name-brands. They say that 720p looks as good as 1080p at this size. No channels broadcast at higher than 720p or 1080i anyway, both of which this TV supports. My recommendation is to not waste your money on 1080p unless you get a bigger TV than this, and plan to hook up a HD DVD or Blu-ray player otherwise you will never see the difference. Except in your wallet.

I was close to buying a Sharp, actually, until I read all the reviews that say that standard definition channels look TERRIBLE on the Sharp. Then I went into a store to compare and you can really see the difference when SD commercials came on. The vast majority of my channels are SD, so that was important. I don't have a HD DVD or Blu-ray, but the picture from my progressive-scan DVD player is incredible. One last thing: the sound is really good for a TV. I usually hook it up to my stereo, but it's surprisingly good on its own.

So if you are waffling between a few different TVs and this is one of them, I don't think you'd be disappointed AT ALL if you settled on this one. Buy it!
Excellent TV

I bought this TV for two reasons: One was that I had decided Panasonic had the best picture in the stores where I had seen it and the other was that I have only an outside antenna and a reviewer said his worked great on a simple antenna. He was right and I am extremely pleased with this TV. Almost looks like 3-D on my best stations.
Terrific performance and value

Review Date: December 28, 2007
Reviewer: A. Amy, USA
After comparing this television side-by-side with many others, including a far more expensive Sharp Aquos, I could detect virtually no reason not to buy it. Upconverted DVDs look EXCEPTIONAL and the sound is surprisingly dynamic; it almost sounds like a far bigger mini stereo system! Of course, it's still no match for a high quality amplifier and speakers, but it's far better than any other TV I've owned. (I cannot comment on how its sound quality compared in the store with that of other sets, as I only looked at the picture.)

The menu is easy to use and includes all the features you could expect, including fully adjustable backlight in addition to surround, noise filter, color temperature, parental lock, auto off, timers, etc, with the one notable exception of a memory function that allows the user to store 2 different picture settings -- one for HD and near-HD, and another for standard definition. With the former, sharpness can be increased so much it starts to make standard satellite images look fuzzy. Therefore, the lack of such a memory can potentially be an inconvenience. In an attempt to negate the problem, I made sure the DVD player I bought had its own picture controls. I believe that after lowering the sharpness on the TV to a modest level and increasing sharpness on the DVD player, I should be able to achieve excellent results for both sources without having to constantly make adjustments, assuming that when I upgrade to HD satellite, the receiver will be able to store 2 settings.
The back is nicely laid out (unlike my sister's Olevia) and offers 2 HDMI inputs, 2 s-video, 1 component, a "front" input concealed in a recessed area on the right side, and, for those who might use it, an optical audio out.

The remote, while large, fits nicely in one's hand and is nicely designed.

In short, if you can compensate for the lack of dual picture setting memory, this TV is for you!

UPDATE: Correction! This TV DOES have a memory feature for picture controls; I simply missed it. In the PICTURE section of the menu there are several "quick" picture settings (vivid, cinema, etc.) and what I did not realize before is that all the picture controls can be adjusted separately for EACH of these "modes". Just make sure you set each one while tuned to the input with which you want to use those particular settings and the TV will store them. For example, I'm using the VIVID mode for HD signals and CINEMA for standard signals.

Some people have complained that this TV does not display standard content well. They apparently haven't spent a few minutes fine tuning the set. Yes, if you adjust VIVID for HD signals by raising brightness, sharpness, and color to levels you never dared use before and then try to watch regular cable or satellite without changing the picture, the quality will be lacking. But if you select another mode like CINEMA or STANDARD and in it reduce sharpness, brightness, and color down to a moderate level, you will quickly see that there is no problem. I tried both standard satellite and even a VHS tape, and believe me, it's fine!

Finally, it should be noted that this set can also display 1080i. Perhaps all 720p sets do, but if you are new to HD (like me) then you may not be aware of it.

Enjoy! It's a great product.

Product Description

Now you can play your entertainment library on one versatile machine. Since the 32LV67 has both a DVD player and a 32-inch screen, you won't have to worry about connecting different electronic components in order to watch your favorite program. This convenience is matched only by its smart, stylish design.

The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 32LV67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 37 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.

Full-Featured DVD Player
The 32LV67 includes an integrated, slot-loading DVD player. It has upconverting technology that improves the standard picture definition of regular DVDs to match the 1366 x 768 (720p HDTV) display resolution of the 32LV67.

Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It is also capable of these connections:

  • HDMI inputs: 3
  • ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2
  • PC monitor input: 1 (VGA 15 Pin D-Sub)
  • RF input: 1 rear
  • A/V inputs: 2 (rear and side)
  • Optical audio output: 1

Audio
The SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set.

Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels.

SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The cabinet includes stereo speakers, but the TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

Other Features
Channel browser shows you thumb-nail images of the last five channels you've watched at the touch of a button. You can also see previews of your preset Favorite Channels along the bottom of the screen.
